Exit Strategy are located in an office park just off the 403 in Burlington. Fortunately, they’re relatively easy to find thanks to a bright red building and a prominent sign. The reception area is small and doesn’t offer anywhere to sit, but the staff are very friendly and helpful and do a good job of making you feel welcome.

The room itself was clearly put together on a small budget, but the props at least are solid and authentic. Unfortunately the immersion factor is rather lacking. At no point did I particularly feel I was on the trail of a “sneaky jewel thief”; rather, the room felt like what it was; a room with a few decorations added and puzzles thrown in. The puzzles were nicely varied, although a little on the easy side; experienced escapers would probably be able to finish this room in fairly short order. That being the case, I would recommend it more for new players who are trying out escape rooms for the first time and don’t want anything too brain-numbing on their first time out. One touch that I really appreciated is that they provide you with a chalkboard and chalk should you need to write anything down while solving a puzzle.

On the whole, this room lacks the “wow” factor of some of the fancier rooms, and the puzzles are a little on the easy side. But the team I went with, consisting of myself and two first-time escapers certainly enjoyed ourselves, and if you set your expectations accordingly there’s some fun to be had here.

Final Verdict:

6/10
