For 28 weeks, nothing happened, but on the 29th week a research team at a top secret excavation site mysteriously disappeared without a trace. Journal 29 is the only remaining research book found where the team was last known to be, and chronicles the team’s last known discoveries.

With very little instruction and explanation, this books begins by providing the player with intrigue.  It is captivating and almost time consuming, for those of us who are addicted to a challenge.  For some, this can add to the fun of the challenge, for others this can contribute to the frustration when stuck on a puzzle.  There is an enjoyable bond between using the book and the internet to move easily through the book.  We enjoyed the easy game play, however if you get stuck, you are stuck!  There is a small hint system, but it can sometimes be more confusing than it is helpful.

Let’s talk about the puzzles, the majority of them were challenging, some of the puzzles actually required very specific previous knowledge and without that, it would have been impossible to solve. This book is definitely not an individual puzzle book. As a lot of previous knowledge is needed throughout the book, it is necessary to reach out to others who may have those frames of reference for help.  We did enjoy working together on puzzles, we found working on this along might be a bit challenging for the “average” person.

We did enjoy how the book utilizes a URL that helps you to know if your answers are right or wrong but it would be great if there was a better hint system. Some way to provide just a little nudge.  Overall the book was fun to complete with friends, it kept us on our toes, and was definitely a puzzle book that is different than any other we have seen out there!  Would we recommend purchasing this book, YES!
