Twisted Limits is located in the town of McHenry, a northern suburb of Chicago. This location was easy to find, with some restaurants and stores nearby. For once, our team didn’t search for ice cream after our escape rooms—which serves a testament to the amount and variety of food and beverages available (complimentary) at Twisted Limits. We rarely see anything more than water available, so to see an entire display of chips, snack cakes, granola bars, fruit snacks, sodas, coffee, etc. available was astounding! They also had another unique feature—a huge party room! In the party room, you will find multiple tables and chairs, bags, indoor basketball, billiards, and a TVs that were running an escape-room themed television show. The facility itself was nothing short of amazing. We were briefed and given a backstory for our room before heading in—we missed having a video to get us into the story, but the owner did say the video is coming soon!
The room had many hidden surprises, and had us laughing and squealing throughout. We thought the set design was really well done and fit the theme of a theatre’s backstage area. We’re rarely able to say this, but Behind the Curtain had a wow-factor that we have yet to see in any other room (no spoilers, go check it out)! The set lent itself to a feeling of immersion and anticipation that did not cease to keep us on our toes. Please take their disclaimer to heart: this is an incredibly physical room. Behind the Curtain had a variety of puzzles and something for everyone to do. If you are someone that likes a more physical room that will make you feel like a kid again, this is the room for you!
