Escape Brigade is located in Des Plains, a nearby suburb of Chicago.  It is only a skip away from Rosemont, where there are plenty of places to shop, eat, and find ice cream!  The building had very limited signs, so it was a bit difficult to find.  Upon entering Escape Brigade, we were greeted by two game masters who were very polite and showed us where to find refreshments.  There were comfy seats and a game to play while we waited for our room.  The introductory video for Alpha Lab was well-made and interesting, and it got us excited to start the room!

Upon entering the room, it looked like an authentic lab with very realistic materials that fit the lab theme.  While the room led to easy immersion, the clue system and visible wear-and-tear made it harder for us to feel immersed.  The room had a variety of puzzles to work on, but unfortunately, they did not require all four of our team members, which left some of us just looking around the room rather than actually playing the game.  There was plenty of information to go off of in order to determine what to do for the puzzles, and they did stick to the theme of the room.  In addition, there were lots of longer puzzles, some of which had unique elements that we really enjoyed, but again this led to some of our players not having a lot to do.

Overall, we did like this room.  We thought it was a fun, authentic, in-theme room, but the puzzles were the weak point in our opinion.  The addition for more puzzles, or more collaboration in the existing puzzles, would ensure that everyone had a great time.  If you are part of a smaller group, this room would be great, but larger groups might find themselves with long wait-times between solving puzzles.

Final Verdict:

6.3/10
