Bond’s Escape Room offers 15 different experiences in two locations in the greater DC area. We visited their Arlington location to risk taking on Death By Chocolate and were glad we did. The Arlington location sits just off Clarendon Boulevard on the Edgewood Street horseshoe. This is a wonderful area that offers plenty of shopping and dining options; however, parking may be a challenge during peak hours.

The pre-room experience received an above-average 7 with a beautiful, spacious lobby and several inspirational quotes from various titans of industry to get the creative teamwork juices flowing. All COVID protocols were adhered to both by staff and customers.

One word of caution: there is a map on the wall to the right as you enter the lobby which depicts all the rooms and their layouts. For some, this will add to the anticipation of exploring the various multi-chambered rooms, but for others it may serve as a spoiler to know what the room layout is in advance. It’s easy to avoid if you don’t want to see your room’s layout.

The room was extremely well designed and maintained earning it a well-above-industry-norm score of 8. Everything within Death By Chocolate worked properly the first time and greatly added to our experience. Furthermore, it enhanced the immersion factor of the room. We were pleased to find a good amount of tech in the room that flowed logically, adhered to the story, and avoided the use of combination locks.

Our team found the puzzles in Death By Chocolate to be the strong point and assigned another well-above-norm score of 8. There was a great variety of well-thought-out puzzles which shifted back and forth from linear to non-linear, allowing all five of us to remain gainfully employed throughout the experience.

We had a blast at Bond’s Escape Room and can’t wait to explore the rest of their rooms!
