When a team enters a great escape room, it can feel magical. So, it seems appropriate to have magic as a theme for any enthusiast. Mastermind Escape Games meets our need for the mysterious in Sorcerer’s Secret.
A brief rundown of Mastermind can be found on my review of Lost in Time, so in this review I will critique what is unique to Sorcerer’s Secret. Our game master played a role as we entered the room; then we watched a video that explained the scenario. The storyline was challenging to follow, but we are an experienced team, so we got to work and filled in the blanks as we went along.
Sorcerer’s Secret didn’t hold the beauty and excitement of Lost in Time, but the puzzles engaged the whole team; each player contributed to our success. The decor and props were interesting and set a magical mood. Our game master was meticulous in keeping an eye on us, and did a great job of guiding us when he could tell we were frustrated.
Any escape room should leave you wanting more; unfortunately for us, we wanted more puzzles (and magic), since we completed this room in thirty minutes. We look forward to having our team tackle the more challenging rooms at Mastermind so that we can see how they compare. The staff and the owner have been so polite and easy to work with, and we can’t wait to come back to try their other rooms.
