At Roundabout you can see they take immersion and room quality seriously. But first things first, it’s important to note Roundabout isn’t the easiest place to find, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the narrow storefront and stairway leading off Yonge St. It’s easy to feel cramped in the lobby especially when more than one group is waiting, but the staff were attentive and friendly which is great.

The Prisoner was an interesting experience. When we finally removed our blindfolds after being lead into the room we discovered what looked and felt like a real prison. The room quality and immersive feel of the story was impressive. Once we got going, we realized about half way through (and already at our 60min limit) there’s no way we (or most people) would be finishing this room in time. There’s a LOT of puzzles and things to do in this room. Conventional design wisdom dictates that an average 60min room contains 7-8 puzzles & tasks (or 1 puzzle per 7-9min depending on the difficulty level). I think I lost count after 11 puzzles in The Prisoner! It’s a wonderful room but our team felt like we’d never get out nor would we even get close to the end. The staff generously let us finish the room, but it took us 2hrs to do so. So what could be said about this room, and would we recommend it? Yes, but take these caveats in mind: Don’t do this room unless you have at least 3-4 strong/experienced players, and a group size of 5-6. Anything less than that and you’ll find yourself quickly frustrated by the sheer amount of things you have to do!

As always, happy escaping!

Fantastic set design. Great puzzles and tech. Best room I’ve done so far.

This is my favourite room I’ve ever done. So immersive and has fun puzzles that really rely on teamwork for completion. My team was able to complete this room in just enough time. We were 3 experienced players.
