Union Station in Kansas City provides the perfect location for an escape room establishment. Union Station is home to an enormous toy train collection for kids of all ages, Science City Museum for elementary-age children, and numerous food and drink options, so those who aren’t up for an escape room can keep plenty busy during your visit.

Escape Room Kansas City first opened in the River Market district of Kansas City, and quickly opened a second location on the lower floor of Union Station. It is a hidden gem within Union Station, and is worth the visit.

The “Judgment Day” room plays off the theme from the Terminator films, so the player is transported back to 1997. Escape Room integrated some exciting and innovative technology in this room, which players should enjoy discovering. Occasionally, the technology seemed too modern for the story. In addition, the story (though perhaps overly familiar to those who have seen Terminator) could have used more development throughout the game.

Judgment day would be a fun room for a beginner or intermediate player. The technology brought some “wow” moments, but the ending overall didn’t bring the usual rush of excitement that escape room addicts crave. If you are visiting Union Station and have never tried an escape game, this would be the place to start. I know “I’ll be back!”

Final Verdict:

6.4/10
