The Virus is definitely out to impress, dazzling us with its special effects, including a virtual reality introduction that wows you right off the bat. Armed with an all-star production team though, we would expect nothing less!

It was simple to locate this venue, plus parking was effortless which is scarce in the Los Angeles area. We are always eager to experience new and innovative pieces of work and were thankful for the equally enthusiastic staff! The outdoor waiting area was pretty comfortable, though after our long drive, we wished restrooms had been a little more accessible!

Our mission was clear: to figure out the cure for The Virus before it was too late. The lead scientist on the case had already died but had hid different elements to the cure within his lab. They did a great job of unfolding the scenario, and creating characters and atmosphere that were realistic for this science laboratory.

Did you know that the room shrinks down to 1/3 of its original size? Don’t worry, they already tell you this on their website. 😉

There was a wide variety of puzzles. Some were really exciting, while others seemed rather odd within the context of the game. While puzzles were not necessarily the strong suit of The Virus they were definitely fun. One thing I am required to mention – when I played the game everything ran really smoothly, but when my ERA teammate Kevin played the game, they experienced quite a few technological malfunctions that somewhat took away from their experience. We don’t believe this to be a regular occurrence though, and we know that it is one of the risks of having tech elements within a game.

The Virus definitely stands out amongst the vast variety of escape rooms in Los Angeles. I have recommended it to my personal friends, and I am officially recommending it to you. If you are looking for a really fun, really flashy experience The Virus is for you. It seems to be geared towards experienced players, but new players will have a great time as well!

Final Verdict:

8/10
