If you are a child at heart and a fan of colourfully decorated rooms then look no further! The theme and décor were the stars of this Alice in Wonderland inspired escape room. Located in Guelph Ontario, this location had lots of onsite parking which is free for up to two hours. One thing to note is the signage outside of the building could easily be mistaken as an actual exit sign.

The waiting area was large and set up with couches to comfortably sit while filling out waivers. We all noted how they had snacks and drinks for purchase. It is surprising how often escape rooms provide no options for food or drink so we thought this was a nice addition on their part.

There was no video prior to the room but everything was explained in full detail complete with a check list to ensure everything was covered. We were also given a phone with an intercom to communicate with the front desk if we needed a hint.

Upon entering the room you could tell Exitus really had fun conceptualizing and putting everything together. Multiple elements of the Alice storyline were incorporated into the décor and puzzles including glowing mushrooms, a tea party, playing cards and of course clocks! No decorating detail was forgotten. They even had Alice in Wonderland patterned fabric on the chair seats. The puzzles were unique, well thought out and intuitive, but not too easy. The group enjoyed how we needed to bring multiple elements together to solve a larger puzzle. Teamwork based puzzles are always appreciated as they add an inclusive nature to the experience. There was no story development but hey, do you really need any more explanation? It is the wacky world of Wonderland after all! One downfall is that there was very little soundproofing between rooms; throughout our game play we were distracted by sounds coming from the room right beside us.

Alice is marketed as a family friendly room that is a great place to start for escape room newbies. With their linear puzzles we would have to agree that this game is a great place to start if you are new to escape games. They have designed this game to be easily tweaked based on the age and experience of the game players which is a brilliant approach to enabling the game to be played by all ages.

Final Verdict:

7.3/10
