Located in Downer’s Grove, Illinois, Fuzzy Logic is an easy-to-find escape room company with several escape rooms.  The location has lots of parking, nearby restaurants and shops, and good signage.  Upon entering Fuzzy Logic, we were greeted by enthusiastic employees and were impressed by their lobby.  There was plenty of seating, games on the tables, merchandise for sale, and a well-executed lock-wall to get your mind “escape-room-ready.”

We were given a backstory to Time Pirates and were excited to begin.  This room was well-decorated, but nothing stood out as incredible.  However, we enjoyed moving through the room and discovering different parts and themes. We found being immersed difficult due to the changing themes, small areas, and game master in the room.  We felt that having the game master in the room took away from the theme more than adding to it.  With that being said, the props fit what they were going for, there were some unique pieces, and we did enjoy the set.

So, how were the puzzles?  We did enjoy the clue/puzzle stream in this room and thought it followed a logical progression.  We were excited when solving puzzles, however, we lacked the pressure and anticipation we often look for in a room.  There was one puzzle that we spent quite a long time trying to complete, which did add some frustration for our group, but luckily, we were able to solve it! In addition, there was one more physical puzzle (does not require any sort of strength/fitness) that was fun, but seemed out of place for the theme.  The clue system in this room is an excellent callback to a 90’s television show. I don’t want to give it away but if you can figure out which one you’ll be excited and happy like we were!

Overall, we had a good time and we were glad we went.  This is a new company with a lot of great ideas.  Fuzzy Logic seems like it might be around awhile, especially with their video-game backgrounds being integrated into their escape rooms.  They have a unique twist on how they view escape rooms, and you can really feel their passion when you talk to them!  This company has promise, and it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Final Verdict:

6.7/10
