Escape Long Beach has woven escape rooms with the historical landmark of Long Beach, the Queen Mary. In their room, “The Queen”, you and your team are the best paranormal investigators there are, and you are the last hope in finding out where missing people have disappeared. Our game master prepped us from the get-go and each one of us had a “role” to play with our given prop, which added that extra bit of fun to the game since we didn’t have any costume pieces to wear during the game.

They have a small lot parked out front but chances are you will have to find street parking. There isn’t much to do too close by but at least the area is clean and safe. And not far away is Downtown Long Beach. The lobby was in a separate building which made it feel like one of the rooms so we actually started exploring while we were waiting for our game master to return. It is indeed NOT one of the escape rooms.

But the room itself for the Queen was very much an inspired tale based on some haunted tales of the Queen Mary. That being said we were hoping for a bit more creepy feeling although it may sidetrack you from the game. The room itself was built well, nothing seemed cheap. There were some electronics in the room which felt a bit cheesy and took us out of the immersion but overall most puzzles seemed to fit the theme well and we loved the nautical and royal themes. There was a good variety although nothing seemed super new and there were no big wow factors. The music was a nice touch, as was the prodding of the Queen in the room if you ever got stuck. This room is better suited for 3-4 people as any more may leave players feeling like they have nothing to contribute since there isn’t enough to do to keep everyone busy at all times.

Per the norm, post-game the game master walks you through the entire game once again in case you missed something. Then a nice photo is taken. If you are able to escape you have the chance to help free some souls (aka the previous players who did not escape.) This may have been one of the most interesting parts. Overall this is a fun room that can be catered to your favored difficulty level by the company before you play. We are excited to see what other rooms this company creates.

Final Verdict:

7.9/10
