The ERA team had a fun time at Bamboozled Escape Games. The location is easy to find in a plaza, with lots of parking available. The lobby has nice décor, with eye catching colours. The gate waiting room was a very cool experience! The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming. It was such a pleasure for the ERA team to get to know them!

Pirate Plunder was an enjoyable escape room to experience. The room was highly story driven and goal oriented, with an almost video-game-like narrative to it. For the room components, there were some basic props with engaging art work and wall designs. There were some tactile moments where the props helped the players feel emerged in the theme. The room uses a lot of technology, although at times there were lags between the technology used and the result it was meant to produce. We found at times the technology was a bit touch-and-go with the escape room experience.

For immersion, Pirate Plunder had a very solidly driven narrative and story. The actions you and your team completed in the room would trigger the story line to continue. The story would be great for children to complete. We appreciated the efforts made to drive the immersion forward, although we found there was a lot of reading needed and eventually some repetition with the tasks to progress through the story. At times, the audio quality in the room wasn’t as loud as it could have been so it was difficult to hear the dialogue and story prompts.

The puzzles were enjoyable to complete. There was some variety of puzzles using different skills needed. We enjoyed that there was a great team aspect to the puzzle solving experience. We found that there were more tasks than puzzles to complete. The tasks and puzzles did a good job of using the pirate theme within the puzzle solving experience. We found that these tasks would be a lot of fun for children and parents to complete together.

Overall, this was a fun room to complete. It brings out your inner child and long-forgotten dreams of pirate ships and plunder! The linear pace and step-by-step narrative would provide a great experience for those new to the escape room experience, or those taking children out for a fun afternoon of pirate exploration!

Final Verdict:

6.3/10
