Roundabout has a very “heart of Toronto” location; as with most downtown locations, they tend to be small in size. However, Roundabout exploits its small in stature floor plan with finesse. Directed into the room, we were about to board the plane for our “final destination”. The plot was simple-ish; we had no pilots and were left descending into a sure-fire collision with the ground. We had just the brief time allotted to save ourselves by finding a parachute.
The room ambiance was very neat, and to be honest, I might have been overly impressed merely because I had not stepped into one of the many other plane themed rooms located in Ontario. This was a very tactile experience for me seeing as they even had full working airplane seats, coach mind you, but working none the less.
The rest of the room however was not as impressive. The puzzles were slightly ‘puzzling’ in a not so complimentary manner; some puzzles felt downright out of place. There were a few that tied in very nicely with the theme though. Without giving anything away, you will really enjoy the ones which seemed fit for a plane ride. After the initial scavenging aspects the rest seemed to just be filler unfortunately, but if you have a small group this may not seem as mundane compared to a larger group.
They had some cute bells and whistles with this room that did add a fair amount of enjoyment, can anyone say ‘button pushing’?! I would recommend this room to a group of four, and mostly to those who have yet to do an aeronautic themed room. It’s got nice detail and value in the décor alone, although the puzzles might leave you feeling a little turbulent.
Oh and P.S. with Roundabout, don’t forget to push the star after you punch in the code! (we learned our lesson with that).
