We were so excited to go back to Escape Artistry, located in the city of Chicago! We had no trouble finding the location, but additional signs could be helpful in catching the attention of people passing by. Upon entering the location, we were greeted by in-character employees who couldn’t have been more welcoming or personable. We had high hopes from the last visit, and we were not disappointed! They have a large waiting area with games, restrooms, and chargers for your phones. Don’t worry, though, they get you going on your adventure pretty quickly. The briefing video was interactive, exciting, and truly got us into the theme. We were given a briefcase of supplies, and sent on our way.
The set was very realistic. Imagine walking into the stereotypical grandma’s house—you’re picturing the set. The materials used, for the most part, were authentic, with the exception of a few “printed” items. There was some wear-and-tear, but nothing out of the ordinary, and it all still fit the theme of the room. We felt very immersed in the theme of the room and in the story line, which we loved! Unfortunately, for us, some of the puzzles could have used some extra breadcrumbs. We did manage to complete our mission, but felt like we had spent a bit of time wandering around the room wondering what certain clues meant. However, that did not mean we didn’t have fun—we loved it!
Overall, this room was highly immersive, authentic, and fun! We loved that the employees stayed in character, that the room felt like we were truly part of the story, and that the pre-room and room had a logical flow. Overall, we were impressed!
