Escape from the Bank
September 17th and 18th 2016

If you are seeking out a unique escape room adventure, this special event from SCRAP will definitely interest you. Hurry! Running for only two days, you don’t want to miss your chance to Escape from the Bank. Crack the Vault pins multiple teams against the clock as each band of thieves work simultaneously to be the first to Escape from the Bank!

Hosted at the luxurious Federal Bar in Long Beach, I’d like to encourage players to take full advantage of this venue by making dinner reservations for before or after your game. The beautiful décor at this location really set the tone for the rest of our experience, and coupled with the great customer service from the friendly staff, this event felt highly exclusive.

With expectations set so high, our team was slightly disappointed that when actually playing the game there was little interactivity with the space. While we liked how professional and organized the game was, many of the puzzles are similar to those that you might find in a puzzle book. This translated to a less immersive experience for players. They were not terribly difficult, but if you get stuck, the staff will be happy to nudge you in the right direction. NOTE: Pay close attention to what shows up on the screen!

It was great to experience this game with other teams. Unlike a regular escape room, the presence of other players does not mean that you will be forced into working directly with them; rather it is a space in which teams co-exist (surely this is a relief to some people). I would recommend this to adults looking for a fun game night outside of the house. It is a bit less intimidating for new players than the typical escape room, so make sure to let your reluctant friends in on this one!
