In the heart of Toronto’s Chinatown you’ll find Real Escape Game’s newest and truly unique escape room experience… The Red Room. Puzzle enthusiasts hold onto your hats because this is going to bend your brain!

The pre-room and customer service were ok. There’s not much to speak of either good or bad in this area because the entrance from the street literally puts you right into the game. The staff are among our favourites in Toronto, but once again there’s not much that can be said because even the customer service and interaction with staff are downplayed in this room’s emphasis.

The room quality is good, but not great. You’re in a red room. It’s red… and it’s a room. The construction is solid, and there aren’t really props to speak of. So again, there’s not much to say. The same is true of the immersive qualities of this room. We’ve never been so puzzled (pun intended) on how to rate a room category, but there’s no right choice here. The Red Room is all about puzzles and communication. It does a good job of being only about puzzles and communication, but that’s all it is. One might argue a story could have been superficially added to give you a “reason” for being there or for escaping but we admit it probably would’ve resulted in a worse score so we left it n/a.

So if there’s not much to say for pre-room, customer service, room quality, and nothing at all to say about immersion, what CAN be said and rated for this room?!! PUZZLES! If you’re a puzzle enthusiast, you will want to see this room! Ironically we dreaded the thought of walking into a room with nothing but puzzles as the focus, but these puzzles are great! The main feature of this room is something we can’t reveal but we can’t stop talking and smiling at the thought of how much we enjoyed it!

Which leads us to how much fun we had and whether we would recommend this room… Our team loved this room! Admittedly there were only a couple features we loved, but they were so creative, unique, and surprising it carried over to the whole experience. Will everyone else love it? We’re not sure. We know puzzle enthusiasts will love it, and we know creative designers will love it, but we can’t guarantee it’s everyone’s cup of tea. This is one of those cases where we really want to hear from those who have tried this room to give us some more feedback on their experiences, because of the unique nature of this experience.

We want to hear your thoughts! Be sure to comment in the section below or send us a message via ERA’s email, Facebook page, or Twitter… As always, happy escaping!

Final Verdict:
