The second room we tried at Twisted Limits was Behind The Curtain. To learn a bit more about our initial impressions when visiting their location be sure to read our Executive Disorder review. Because of our experience with the first room, our expectations were set much higher, and couldn’t wait to get into this room asap! Again the introduction didn’t disappoint as we could see how the scenario we were entering was loosely meant to connect together in a much bigger story throughout all of Twisted Limits’ rooms…

Once again the room quality, game design, and overall props used were incredible! Some of our own ERA members who’ve spent a fair amount of time in backstage dressing rooms and alleyways attested to how authentic it really was. If you’re keeping track it’s confirmed – Twisted Limits absolutely knows what they’re doing when it comes to real, true to life set designs and making an immersive experience! Speaking of immersion, we really enjoyed the feeling of going through this room in terms of connecting to the story and atmosphere. Whereas Executive Disorder felt great as a room but a bit removed from having an engaging story, it’s fair to say this experience was a bit better at keeping our interest level higher throughout the full 60 minutes. The same clue/hint system still makes for a bit too much dependence on interaction with the game master instead of having more clear in game directions, but this was something that seemed pretty minor to us in the big picture.

The puzzles were also enjoyable for the most part with a good variety of tasks, skills, and difficulty levels. The only concern we had was the lack of more specific point to point direction within the game. This probably won’t be an issue for less experienced players as they tend to be better at not limiting possibilities. Experienced players on the other hand will find it difficult at times to consider actions and solutions not previously seen at other escape room companies.

So all in all was it worth it? Definitely. Much like their other room, we want people in the greater Chicago area to experience the good things Behind The Curtain has to offer.

We want to hear your thoughts! Be sure to comment in the section below or send us a message via ERA’s email, Facebook, or Twitter… As always, happy escaping!

Final Verdict:

7.8/10
