Escape Room Era is an intriguing escape room company hosting the well thought out Ben Franklin room. I must admit that I was skeptical about the theme at first, but after going through it I ended up appreciating the room’s unique story. In this experience, the players are a group of patriots fighting the British in the Revolutionary War. Ben Franklin created a secret weapon that could defeat the British, and it is up to the players to discover it.

There types of the puzzles were quite diverse, which was a good sign. I particularly enjoyed the physical puzzles, and a few observational puzzles brought a smile to my face. None of the puzzles were too tedious. However, I would not categorize anything in the room as super unique or original, and veteran players will have seen it all before. The room is fairly easy and the escape rate high, so it is perfectly suited for new players. The room was surprisingly large and ideally suited for a larger group. We had six players and it worked out perfectly.

The strength of the Ben Franklin room was its immersion. The puzzles integrated well into the theme, and even the operator was in costume. The players had to take “candles” to light the room, and revolutionary garb was provided in case you really want to get in character. Our puzzle master even incorporated Ben Franklin trivia into some of our puzzles… how cool is that? With that being said, however, players should not expect too much technology or get wowed by a super high budget production. All in all, however, it was a fun room.

Give Escape Room Era a shot! It’s all about the Benjamin (you know that was comin’).
