Escape Challenge St. Louis, located in Maryland Heights, is one of the highest quality escape room facilities in St. Louis. Walking into their lobby, you will find a treasure trove for the puzzle enthusiasts. As soon as we entered, our team scattered to play with the many toys, Atari video games and the “practice” escape desk they have to hone your skills. The entire staff was charming, enthusiastic and extremely helpful.

After being given the general story of a kidnapped judge, we were taken into the expertly designed “mansion” library. It was decorated with artwork, antique furniture and plenty of reading material. The area was very spacious. Most props were high quality with little wear and tear and appropriate for the room’s concept.

With the high quality of the room and the great decorations, the team was fully involved in the story. Of course, it’s not hard to forget your objective when there is a ticking bomb serving as your timer! The only thing that took us out of moment was the 90s music we could clearly hear from the other escape room (but we didn’t mind so much. There is always time for a dance break).

All of the puzzles were clever, challenging and engaging. When you start the room handcuffed to the wall, you feel that motivation to get solving right away. The best thing about the puzzle design is the emphasis on communication and team work. Our team of four had to work together on almost every puzzle and we all felt useful and challenged the entire time.

We escaped the room with minutes to spare and all of us left that room feeling excited, energized and exhausted. The atmosphere, puzzle design and some wow factors really make this room one to add to your list. We did this room with four experienced players and it felt like just the right amount. Those just beginning their escape room adventures would benefit with a 6–7 person team. Escape Room lovers should definitely plan a trip to Escape Challenge St. Louis!
