Durham Escape Rooms are a promising new entrant on the escape room scene. The staff are very friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. The reception area is small but tastefully furnished with two big couches to relax on while you wait and a few brain teasers to keep you occupied.

The Treasure Hunter Room itself is a very “traditional” escape room, in the sense that it only consists of a single room and the puzzles consist almost entirely of unlocking various types of locks. That being said, it does a good job at what it does. The room quality is surprisingly good, the props are all very high quality, and the decor does an excellent job immersing you in the setting of an explorer’s study. Unfortunately, the puzzles are one of the weaker parts of this room. There are occasional leaps of logic required that are rather unintuitive, and it can be hard to know which puzzle to concentrate on at any given time. Nevertheless, our escape team definitely enjoyed ourselves during our playthrough.

Overall, the Treasure Hunter Room is a solid offering and we’re excited to see what Durham Escape Rooms come up with next.

Final Verdict:
