Another of 60 to Escape’s top-notch rooms, Containment, is also located in a popular mall in the northern suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.  Located near many restaurants, shops, and choices for ice cream or frozen yogurt (again, escaping makes us hungry), this is an easy-to-find company in a great location.  While the lobby itself is nothing to write home about, the customer service from the staff and owner was phenomenal.  The lobby has a few chairs and tables, as well as posters for their various rooms, but was otherwise bare.  Being located in a mall, however, there is plenty to do before your escape room! In addition, with the quality of the rooms themselves, we weren’t too disappointed about not having comfy couches to sit on before we started.  We were so excited to start containment, which seemed to be one of the favorites among the staff.

This adventure began in a dark (you can definitely still see) room where you watch a video to set up the room and involve you in the theme.  We were instantly captivated and felt as though we were truly in a government bunker and working against the clock.  We knew our objective, and we were quick to get started!  As I mentioned, the set is somewhat dark, but don’t worry-there are sources of light that you will find pretty quickly.  With the owner coming from a haunted house background, this set did not disappoint! It felt very realistic and matched the theme, and there was a sense of anticipation as we played.  There were many surprises, and a few startling moments, but overall this was not an overly scary room (phew!).  There were a variety of puzzles, some more challenging than others, but the puzzles definitely fostered a sense of communication and togetherness while working. There were a few times that we heard the other room playing, but the owner does a great job playing music and sound effects that will (mostly) drown out the other room and keep you immersed in the game you are playing.

Was it fun? This company did not disappoint.  Again, we loved this room!  It was the perfect mixture of challenging and exciting, with a couple of quips to give you a laugh (if you notice).  There were a mixture of different types of puzzles for every player to enjoy (logic, math, words, physical) and some that required more teamwork and cooperation than others.  This room had us squealing, laughing, and cheering throughout the entire game! We would not hesitate to recommend this room and this company.

Final Verdict:

9.1/10
