Located in Fishers, a suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana, you will find The Escape Room Fishers.  There are plenty of nearby shops, restaurants, coffee places, and ice cream shops.  Additionally, there’s plenty of parking on the second floor of the attached parking garage.  The entrance to the escape room was like nothing we’ve seen before, and we were instantly impressed and excited! We were offered a beverage upon entry, and they had plenty of drinks for sale (including alcoholic).  They had lots of merchandise for sale (apparel, jewelry, pens), lots of practice puzzles and locks, and the lobby space itself was huge!  The owners and employees were incredibly sweet and personable, which made our experience even better!  One thing we’d love to see them add is lockers to keep our belongings so that we didn’t take our stuff with us to each room.  After relaxing and talking to the owners for a bit, we were excited to get started on our adventures!  One thing we’d like to note is that the owners were kind enough to have a different employee run each of our games so we could get a feel for their different styles—thank you for that!

The final room we were taken to was the 1776 room.  The theme of authentic and antique props continued in this room, as well!  The props all felt authentic, however, that sometimes stopped us from touching or inspecting them too closely because we were warned that they were antiques and fragile.  The props that were picked were spot-on in terms of theme, but if there’s some way to get something less breakable it might be helpful so groups feel more comfortable interacting with the room.  We felt immersed and had a sense of urgency during the beginning of this room.  The lighting and build of this room were phenomenal and helped us to get into the theme.  However, once the puzzle flow was lost, we felt stuck and that led to a break in the immersion.

In terms of puzzle design, we felt like the beginning of this room had great logic and flow.  We understood what we were supposed to be doing with very few leaps in logic, which was great!  Unfortunately, partway through we lost that flow.  We felt like there were not a ton of puzzles, but because they lacked a frame of reference—or required outside knowledge—we would get stuck and not be able to make sense of the puzzle.  Additionally, we felt like having more puzzles for others to work on would be helpful, and one element of immersion could definitely have been made into a puzzle instead of being somewhat of a red herring.  We had a great time at the beginning of this room and we feel like with some tweaks and adjustments, this room as a lot of potential.

We would recommend this room to smaller groups because of the sparse puzzles, however, we would not recommend it for kids due to the fragility of the props themselves (even though this helped the set design and authenticity). Overall, we think it’s worth checking out this room, especially if you appreciate a great set and amazing owners and employees!
