Walking into Trapped you are already blown away by the grandness of the lobby with ample seating and beautiful artwork. If you are there with a larger group there is plenty of parking in the complex, drinks and lockers are available, and there is a party room for rent. The staff is inviting while giving the spoken intro into the room and guiding you blindfolded into the room, ensuring your seamless transition into the pyramid.

With you in the room is your hint tablet and your walkie talkie to the outside room. The off-theme bulky tablet and the walkie talkie have to be carried around which removes you from the story when you need to use them. Fortunately, the hint system is intuitive and provides good explanations for the puzzle so when you do need help you won’t be spending much time with the devices.

There are a lot of immersive elements to the room, from the props to the decor to the puzzle elements. Some electronic and modern elements cannot be hidden which will be distracting but they are balanced out with some clever hidden puzzles and the ambiance created with the interactive items and background music. Be sure to stay involved with your journal to keep the immersion level high. The entries are relevant and interesting but if left with the reader of your group it will take away from everyone else’s experience.

The puzzles incorporate multiple components to solve which creates an inclusive environment. We would have loved to see more puzzles which would have us moving less quickly through the room. The variety of puzzles was engaging, though we struggled with one in particular due to the environment getting into the mechanism.

The whole experience was smooth and enjoyable. We were drawn in from the moment we walked into the building to the final puzzle. This is a great room for newer escapers and families since everything is logical, and there’s a great demonstration of different puzzle types and lots to be involved in.

Final Verdict:

7.1/10
